In celebration of National Women’s Month, SMX Convention Center takes pride in giving the opportunity to honor and recognize the importance of strengthening the representation of women in the workforce.

SMX Convention Center goes the extra mile to overcome barriers and pave a better landscape for women, as the data shows that 60% of the overall employee population is comprised of women. According to the Director of Human Resources at SMX, Ms. Alyssa Alillana, “Having a high percentage of female employees is not just about representation and equality. It is about maximizing talents, encouraging creativity, and developing an inclusive work culture that can inspire.”

Being in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions industry, majority of the departments are known to be dominated by male employees, such as Security, Engineering, and Operations. In SMX Convention Center, four branches are headed by women, namely: Ms. Maite Quiogue for SMX Aura and Megatrade Hall, Ms. Daphne Alojado for SMX Davao, and Ms. Salve Tagalog for Sky Hall Seaside Cebu. Other vital departments are also headed by women: Ms. Mina Kahn – Assistant Vice President for Operations, Ms. Mia Joaquin – Vice President of Finance, Ms. Ann Abad – Financial Controller, Ms. Janytte Siega – Director of Banquet and Events Services, Ms. Vanessa De Castro – Cluster Director of Reservations and Revenue Management, Ms. Shaina Moraga – Cluster Director of Business Development, and Ms. Christina Gomez – Cluster Quality and Sustainability Manager. SMX Convention Center branches outside the Metro also give opportunities for women to excel in male-dominated fields. Ms. Zharlene Soliguen is one of the Engineering leads at SMX Bacolod, and the same goes for Ms. Yvanne Delos Santos, Engineering Supervisor at SMX Davao.

As SMX Convention Center continues to create a work environment where every woman can thrive and lead with empathy and compassion, a great testament to this objective is the recent recognition of Ms. Alyssa Alillana, SMX Director of Human Resources, at the Global Exceptional Women Awards 2024. SMX aims to carry the spirit of inclusivity not only during the month of March, but also up to the future generations of women in the workplace.
